Scooby Doo joins in the tunes
Top cartoon star Scooby-Doo made a special guest appearance at a musical performance by the children who attend the Bolingbroke Out of School Care, an out of school club run at the Westbridge Primary School in Battersea.
The classic cartoon character presented a cheque for £5,550 on behalf of Cartoon Network, the number one commercial kids TV channel, to enable special musical performances at Come and Play clubs throughout England.
The Come and Play programme is designed for children aged 4 -14 years, creating opportunities to develop new skills through innovative and fun music workshops led by experienced musicians. Run by the national charity 4Children and funded by Youth Music, the programme is operated at out of school clubs and holiday play schemes.
Ten children from the Bolingbroke Out of School Care took part in the performance, which provided them with an opportunity to showcase their musical skills developed during their participation in the Come and Play programme. Scooby-Doo was also honoured by the children as they played their favourite cartoon canine a tune from the character’s film and television series.
Josephine Hendricks, Co-ordinator at Bolingbroke Out of School Care said, “The children are delighted that Scooby-Doo joined us for this special performance. It provided a fantastic opportunity for the children from our club to perform in front of the school and demonstrate their musical skills.”
“We have often used our well known cartoon characters to introduce children to music, storytelling and drama in a way that they understand and enjoy and I know Scooby enjoyed hearing these kids play his tune,” said Nick Hart from Cartoon Network.
