4Children secures funding for strategic programme on youth services and extended schools

4Children has been selected as one of an exclusive group of third sector organisations to receive funds from the Children, Young People and Families Grant Programme. The grant will provide a major boost in the opportunities for young people by bringing together youth services and extended schools as part of a national strategic programme.

Anne Longfield, OBE, Chief Executive of 4Children said:

“The £750,000 pledged by the Children, Young People and Families Grant programme will enable 4Children to undertake a groundbreaking strategic initiative which will enhance the extended school and youth offer and increase joined-up opportunities for young people which we know is a major priority for young people.”

“The grant demonstrates a welcome commitment from the DCSF to turning the principles of the Every Child Matters and the Children’s Plan into a practical reality. I am excited to be part of this major reform which will play a key role in more young people getting the right kind of joined up, local support when they need it most.”

Kevin Brennan, Minister for Young People, said:

“I was delighted to see so many high calibre applications from organisations working across the sector. All of these organisations provide invaluable help and support to millions of our most disadvantaged children and young people each year.”
