Make Space
Transforming Opportunities for Young People
Make Space is a national campaign that aims to transform out of school opportunities for young people. Launched in October 2002 in partnership with Nestlé, Make Space provides a range of advice and support services to help local people improve provision for young people in their community.
The Make Space campaign aims to create 3,000 modern, lively and safe centres, which have young people themselves at the centre. Over four years into the campaign, we have already over 1,200 members working towards approved Make Space status and two ‘Model’ clubs demonstrating best practice.
Make Space has an active public affairs programme aimed at securing financial and political support for modern youth provision.

Make Space Youth Review
This major policy review, co-chaired by Oona King and Former Young Mayor of Lewisham Wilf Petherbridge, is undertaking a far-reaching public inquiry, over a one year period, into the offer to young people in England today.
Drawing on national and international evidence, submissions and a regional roadshow of public conversations with young people and communities, the Make Space Youth Review is exploring what life is like for young people in England and what the future holds. A key element of the Review is an assessment of and recommendations on the support needed for young people to meet their aspirations and face the challenges of being a modern teenager. The Review will report in July 2007, and Interim Findings were released in March.
